Legal terms and conditions for using WUNWEY's decentralized credentials platform.

1. Agreement Overview

Welcome to WUNWEY, a platform for decentralized digital credentials. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the WUNWEY platform, APIs, and related services. By accessing or using the platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

These Terms apply to all users, including individuals, organizations, developers, and API integrators.

2. Description of Service

2.1 What We Offer

WUNWEY is a decentralized infrastructure for creating, issuing, and verifying W3C-compliant verifiable credentials. Key features include:

  • • Secure decentralized storage using IPFS and blockchain
  • • Organization management and team access
  • • Developer APIs for custom integrations

2.2 Credential Types

Our platform supports various use cases, including but not limited to:

  • • Certificates of completion
  • • Skill endorsements
  • • Project-based credentials
  • • Proof-of-work or contribution
  • • Custom credential templates

3. Account Registration & Eligibility

3.1 Who Can Use WUNWEY

  • • You must be at least 13 years old.
  • • You must be legally capable of entering into a contract.
  • • Organization accounts must be created by authorized representatives.

3.2 Security

  • • You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and cryptographic keys.
  • • Never share your password, private key, or recovery phrase.
  • • Report unauthorized access immediately.

3.3 Username & Profile Rules

  • • Your username must not impersonate or mislead.
  • • We reserve the right to reclaim inactive or inappropriate usernames.

4. Subscription Plans & Billing

Alpha Phase

(Section omitted during alpha phase. Pricing and plans will be shared upon launch.)

5. Organization Accounts

5.1 Creating an Organization

  • • Only authorised individuals may create and manage an organisation.
  • • Organizations are issued a unique DID and key pair.

5.2 Roles & Responsibilities

  • • Admins can manage team permissions and issue credentials.
  • • Organizations are responsible for actions taken under their name.

5.3 Data Ownership

  • • You control the credentials you issue.
  • • Private keys are encrypted and never exposed.

6. API Access & Developer Use

6.1 API Keys

  • • API keys are required and must be kept secure.
  • • Usage is subject to fair use and rate limits.

6.2 Responsibilities

  • • Use APIs in accordance with our documentation.
  • • Report vulnerabilities through responsible disclosure.

6.3 Webhooks

  • • Webhooks must respond reliably.
  • • Supported events include vc_issued, vc_revoked, and others.

7. Credential Issuance & Control

7.1 Who Can Issue

  • • Only verified organizations and authorised users may issue credentials.
  • • WUNWEY does not verify content accuracy. Issuers are fully responsible.

7.2 Validity & Transparency

  • • Issuers guarantee the authenticity of claims.
  • • Revoked or expired credentials are visibly marked.

7.3 Revocation

  • • Credentials can be revoked by the issuer at any time.
  • • IPFS-stored credentials may remain technically accessible.

8. Data & Privacy

8.1 Ownership

  • • You retain full ownership over your credentials and data.
  • • WUNWEY acts as a neutral infrastructure provider.

8.2 Storage

  • • Credential data is stored on IPFS, a decentralized file system.
  • • WUNWEY uses multiple gateways and optional blockchain anchoring.

8.3 Visibility & Encryption

  • • You control who sees your credentials: private, public, or shared.
  • • All data can be encrypted using industry-standard cryptography.

9. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to:

  • • Use the platform for illegal or fraudulent activity
  • • Issue fake or misleading credentials
  • • Impersonate others or organizations
  • • Attempt to hack, reverse engineer, or overload our infrastructure
  • • Infringe on the intellectual property of others

10. Intellectual Property

10.1 Our Rights

  • • WUNWEY owns the platform, codebase, and brand assets.
  • • You may not use our trademarks or likeness without permission.

10.2 Your Rights

  • • You retain ownership of the credential content you create.
  • • You grant us a license to store, process, and distribute data as needed to provide the service.

11. Availability & Support

11.1 Uptime

  • • While we aim for high availability, uptime is not guaranteed.
  • • Outages may occur due to maintenance or third-party providers.

11.2 Support

  • • You can reach us via email for assistance.
  • • Documentation and developer tools are available online.

12. Legal Notices

12.1 Disclaimers

WUNWEY is provided "as is." We make no guarantees regarding availability, security, or suitability for any particular purpose.

12.2 Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, WUNWEY is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for data loss. Total liability is limited to amounts paid (if any) in the prior 12 months.

12.3 Your Responsibility

  • • You must ensure your credential data is accurate and lawful.
  • • You must securely store backup keys and export data before account deletion.

13. Indemnification

You agree to hold WUNWEY harmless against legal claims related to:

  • • Misuse of the platform
  • • False or unauthorized credentials
  • • Infringement of third-party rights
  • • Breach of these Terms

14. Termination

14.1 Your Choice

You may delete your account at any time. Some data may persist on decentralized networks after deletion.

14.2 Our Right

We may suspend or terminate your access for Terms violations, illegal activity, or extended inactivity.

15. Governing Law & Disputes

15.1 Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

15.2 Disputes

We will attempt to resolve disputes amicably. If that fails, disputes will be resolved by binding arbitration.

16. Updates to These Terms

We may revise these Terms as the platform evolves. The updated version will be posted here with a revised date. Significant changes will be announced in advance.

17. Miscellaneous

  • • Entire Agreement: These Terms and our Privacy Policy form the full agreement.
  • • Severability: If one section is unenforceable, the rest still apply.
  • • Assignment: You may not transfer your rights. We may assign our obligations as part of a business restructuring.
